Not long ago, late August, we had a family from Austin, Texas come and stay, the Chatterjees.
Intrepid, adventurous, invigorated, dad and blogger Arun and wife Jo, are taking a year out to travel the world, with their two children, Vivian and Evan, who will do school out of a suitcase. Arun describes their decision thus, Due to a temporary bout of insanity we have left our perfectly fine home in Austin. We’ll return a year later after visiting about 30 countries.
This isn’t the first time they have clocked up significant miles with their thirst for travel, quest for another kind of knowledge: seven years ago they spent a year in India. When their son was a baby. Arun reckoned their best travel accessory then was a travel cot.
We’re delighted they chose Sand Island as one tiny chapter in their journey: it takes pluck to pull your kids out of school and educate them yourselves on the wing - But boy, what an education. And what an incredible gift to their children.
